Annual CU SacTown Run pivots to virtual event benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

SACRAMENTO, CA (April 8, 2021)

The annual Credit Union SacTown Run is being held virtually this year due to the ongoing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of running around downtown Sacramento, starting Saturday (April 10), staff and members from area credit unions will join their counterparts from throughout the state and Nevada and run or walk the equivalent of a 5K on their own. Participants in the event—which benefits Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals in both states—will have until April 20 to complete their 5K run/walk.

“We’ll get back to a live race next year but we aren’t waiting until then to help the children and families who need treatment and care at CMN Hospitals,” said CU SacTown Run Committee Chairman and Diablo Valley Federal Credit Union CEO John Pamer. “Our stakeholders are just as committed as always to raising funds and awareness. The need is constant, and so is our commitment to helping people.”

“CO-OP Financial Services is proud to be the Superhero sponsor of the 2021 Credit Union SacTown Run, dedicated to raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals throughout California and Nevada,” said CO-OP Vice President, Experiential Marketing and Engagement Joe Franklin. “We want to congratulate the California/Nevada Credit Union Leagues, the Sacramento Running Association, and all the runners participating in this virtual event, who are helping to make sure that the important work of ensuring treatment and support for sick children and their families goes on in spite of the pandemic.”

The cost to participate is $30 and proceeds will go to local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals. Runners and walkers also can help raise money for CMN by creating a fundraising page. Those interested in supporting an individual or team can click here: https://secure.e2rm.com/p2p/event/353421/en-CA. Each participant of the 2021 event will receive a custom race face mask, commemorative race bib, and a finisher’s medal from the Sacramento Running Association.

“The Patelco Team looks forward to the SacTown Run every year and though it is virtual, this year is no different,” said Patelco Credit Union Community Engagement Specialist Cara Houck. “We are proud to be a sponsor because our mission goes beyond member well-being to supporting community health and Children’s Miracle Network. This year we are still running together to help sick kids, from our own neighborhoods and we hope you will join us.”

Besides CO-OP Financial Services and Patelco Credit Union, other major sponsors include California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, Golden 1 Credit Union, First Tech Credit Union, SAFE Credit Union, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, Travis Credit Union, Wescom Credit Union, CUNA Mutual Group, and CU Direct.
