AOD Federal Credit Union Announces $50,000 Sponsorship of the Lt. Dan Band Benefit Concert for Local American Hero, Marine Sgt. Ben Tomlinson

JACKSONVILLE, AL (April 10, 2013) – AOD Federal Credit Union (AODFCU) proudly presented the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation with a

$50,000 donation as a Corporate sponsor of the Lt. Dan Band Benefit Concert, to be held on May 19th at Jacksonville State University’s Stadium. This benefit concert will assist in raising money to build local American Hero and AODFCU member, Marine Sgt. Ben Tomlinson, a “Smart Home” in Jacksonville.

Richard H. Simonton, Sr., President and Chief Executive Officer, welcomed the group gathered and stated, “We are here to support one of our most deserving hometown heroes and a member of AOD Federal Credit Union that needs the community’s help and assistance.”

The check was presented at a press conference on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at the AODFCU branch office in Jacksonville, Alabama. Ben Tomlinson, Chuck and Debbie Tomlinson (parents), and Media Relations Director for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Chris Kuban, were in attendance to accept the donation.

Representatives from the City of Jacksonville, Jacksonville State University, Anniston Satellite Chapter of the Association of the United State Army Redstone/Huntsville Chapter, the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, AOD Federal Credit Union Board of Directors & Senior Management, and other community leaders throughout the area attended the press conference.

“AOD Federal Credit Union is honored to have this opportunity to give back to one of America’s Bravest” said Chairman of the Board, Gordon “Doc” Williamson. He asked that “all the businesses in the entire Northeast Alabama region to join us in support of this cause, by making a donation and sponsoring the concert to make this specially adapted ‘Smart home’ a reality for Ben.”

In recognition of the sacrifices made by U.S. service personnel, AOD Federal Credit Union will be offering 2 free tickets to members of AODFCU who are disabled veterans. These will be available, beginning Monday, April 15th, at five of the six, AODFCU branch offices, while supplies last.

The Credit Union is also encouraging everyone to support “Operation Ben”, by purchasing tickets to the May 19th concert at any one of their five branch office locations in Jacksonville, Anniston, Bynum or Oxford beginning Monday, April 15th or at the website www.OperationBen.com.
