Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union’s Vice President retires after 23 years

HUNT VALLEY, MD (March 10, 2014)  – Ellie Meyd, Vice President of Marketing/Lending/Collections is retiring from Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union (AFFCU) after 23 years of service with the organization.

AFFCU presented Meyd with a gift of appreciation and held a special reception in her honor. In addition, she was presented with a framed statement of recognition presented by John Bratsakis, President/CEO of Maryland and District of Columbia Credit Union Association (MDDCCUA), and a special proclamation by Michael Spencer, AFFCU Board Chairman.

“Ellie has been integral to AFFCU’s success over the years. Her expertise and exceptional member service will be missed, but we wish her the very best in her retirement,” said AFFCU President/CEO Matthew Piazza.

Since 1990, Meyd oversaw the credit union’s marketing department, leading successful campaigns and promotions. Under her leadership and vision, the credit union was recognized for numerous marketing awards. A few of Meyd’s favorites include National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) Best Promotional Campaign in 2010, MDDCCUA’s Trailblazer Awards for Best Direct Mail Piece (2000) and Best Marketing Campaign (2000).

With the members’ perspective always at the forefront, Meyd developed AFFCU’s financial seminars and presentations. She led various financial topics including youth seminars and created AFFCU’s annual Kid’s Night to promote financial literacy with the credit union’s younger members. In 1997, Meyd assumed the role of Vice President of Lending and Collections in addition to marketing responsibilities. She oversaw the departments, regulations and compliance while working with members’ lending and collection needs.

Throughout her years of service, Meyd has been a valuable leader as part of the credit union’s management team. She led initiatives including the creation of AFFCU’s first website and developed AFFCU’s training program. She served on multiple AFFCU Board Committees including Nominating Committee, Asset Liability Committee, and Credit Committee.

Exemplifying the credit union motto, Meyd has also brought a wealth of knowledge to the organization. She worked closely with various groups that AFFCU serves such as the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, where Meyd volunteered as a judge for their annual Teacher of the Year Awards. She also judged the Better Business Bureau (BBB) | Greater Maryland Torch Award applicants. As a volunteer, she currently chairs the BBB Education Foundation and serves as a Board of Director for BBB | Greater Maryland. In 2010, Meyd received Volunteer of the Year with the organization.

Meyd’s impact on the credit union extends beyond her position and AFFCU has been grateful for her dedicated years of service in various roles. She plans to spend her retirement traveling across the country with her husband and volunteering in her community.

David Allen will assume Meyd’s VP of Lending and Collections role at the credit union.
