Bay Federal Credit Union welcomes Michael Smith to the helm of mortgage loan operations
CAPITOLA, CA (May 2, 2022) — Bay Federal Credit Union has announced the addition of Michael Smith as its new Vice President of Mortgage Loan Operations. Mr. Smith will guide the department in continuing to provide Credit Union members with an array of high-quality mortgage services and products.
Mr. Smith brings nearly two decades of experience in the financial industry, including mortgage lending, operations and risk management, and customer service. He most recently worked at SAFE Credit Union as AVP, Real Estate Lending, overseeing a growing mortgage team similar to Bay Federal’s.
“I really value Bay Federal’s commitment to members. It’s something that is unique to credit unions,” Mr. Smith said. “In the spirit of that, we are committed to providing a mortgage process that is as stress-free and seamless as possible.”
In the short-term, Mr. Smith aims to build upon the strengths of personnel with skills development. Long-term, he plans to develop a strategic vision that will ensure continuing process and workflow improvements.
Mr. Smith holds an MBA from CSU Sacramento, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in Government. He lives in El Dorado Hills with his wife and two children.
