c. myers and Suncoast Credit Union team up at AICPA Conference on Credit Unions to discuss how CECL could impact business models

TALLAHASSEE, FL (August 29, 2018) — C. myers corporation, a national leader in credit union strategy and real-time A/LM decision information, and Suncoast Credit Union, Florida’s largest credit union, are teaming up to lead a workshop on CECL at the 2018 AICPA Conference on Credit Unions in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Julie Renderos, executive vice president/chief financial officer, Suncoast Credit Union, and Rob Johnson, executive vice president/principal, c. myers corporation, will facilitate a thought-provoking workshop to help participants think through potential business model considerations as a result of CECL.

“So much of CECL talk has been about the data, which is important,” Renderos commented.  “The industry also needs to focus on how CECL can impact strategy.”

“It’s not just about CFOs contemplating potential strategic outcomes.  Other C-Suite and Board members should have an appropriate level of understanding of how measuring the success of the credit union may need to evolve so that CECL does not dictate the lending strategy,” Johnson added.
