Canvas Credit Union, the local cooperative with more than 80 years serving Colorado communities, is a 2020-certified great workplace by the Great Place to Work® Institute. For the second year in a row, an anonymous research-based survey of the Canvas family (employees) resulted in a high approval rating, earning their place on the annual list of certified companies.
According to survey respondents, a whopping 96 percent said they feel "welcome" when joining the Canvas family, 96 percent ranked contributing to the communities they serve as a plus to their job, and 90 percent have a sense of pride in what they do at Canvas. Of those surveyed, 88 percent say Canvas is a great place to work, earning the credit union the well-deserved spot on the Great Place to Work's certified list.
Canvas is the only credit union in Colorado currently presented on Great Place to Work's certified companies list and one of only five financial institutions and insurance companies.
"Canvas is known for our people. Especially during this challenging time, we see daily what a difference our Canvas family makes for people across the Front Range. Leading a team of such dedicated, talented, and delightfully off-beat people is a dream come true for me," said Todd Marksberry, President & CEO at Canvas Credit Union. "The recognition means the world to us because it shines a light on just how special this family is."
Canvas employees certainly returned the love to Todd and the Canvas leadership team, highlighting that Canvas allows their family to be themselves while putting their wellness first. Showing the flexibility and care for their family, within days of the pandemic affecting Colorado, Canvas leaders took action. Each employee was immediately provided three additional sick days and offered 14 days of paid leave for those with dependent needs.
"Hearing directly from our family members often, sharing what we hear, and taking action on feedback never stops at Canvas. We survey often. We use the input to make swift improvements with identified opportunities and to create cross-functional working groups to explore longer-term improvements. Feedback also helps us celebrate wins and amplify what is going well. Our goal is to create a remarkable environment and culture because when people love working here it translates into even stronger impact for our members. They feel it," said Canvas' Chief People and Strategy Officer Tansley Stearns.
Outside of the additional steps Canvas leadership took to ensure the team feels supported during this time, the credit union offers its family a generous benefits package including thousands in annual tuition reimbursement, a strong 401(k), and an unprecedented 2% discount on both auto loan and mortgages.
