Capital Credit Union donates $25,000 to United Way

GREEN BAY, WI (January 18, 2018) — Capital Credit Union recently donated $25,000 to United Way chapters in Bismarck and Fargo.

Each year, Capital Credit Union hosts an internal United Way campaign, giving employees the opportunity to donate to the United Way and receive a dollar-for-dollar match for their donations. This year, the credit union provided a match up to $12,500, which was eagerly met by the credit union’s employees.

“This incredible effort by our employees is a great demonstration of Capital Credit Union’s ‘People Helping People’ philosophy,” shared Capital Credit Union’s President and CEO, Deb Gallagher. “Congratulations and thank you to our employees as well as to the United Way for helping to make a positive difference in our communities.”

The credit union continues to surpass its previous year’s totals for the amount of donations collected, notes Gallagher. Last year, the employee contribution and corporate match totaled $20,129 for the United Way, which was the credit union’s prior record amount of giving.

“Capital Credit Union is an important partner in United Way’s work to end hunger and generational poverty in our community,” shares executive director of the Missouri Slope Areawide United Way, Jena Gullo. “It takes people willing to raise their hands to get the job done. We couldn’t solve these problems and be here for our most vulnerable community members without you.”

People Helping People

Earlier this year, Capital Credit Union volunteered for the United Way’s Day of Caring on Aug. 16 by serving meals and performing general cleaning and organizing tasks at Ministry on the Margins. A total of 12 credit union employees volunteered, donating 44 hours of service.
