Carolinas League subsidiary, PLR, revamps name for HR consulting service, marks recent hiring successes

COLUMBIA, SC (June 27, 2023) — PLR, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Carolinas Credit Union League, has announced Talent Forward as the new name for its longstanding human resources consulting services.

The name, according to PLR EVP/COO Craig Beach, “better captures the actions and focus of PLR’s consulting work in this area, which is to help credit unions and industry organizations advance through the power of people.”

For more than eight years, under the direction of VP of HR Consulting Susanne Witteborg, Talent Forward has primarily helped credit unions in the Carolinas with executive searches, HR training, custom projects, and more.

In addition to providing quality services at a reasonable cost, Witteborg credits ‘relationships’ as another key aspect that sets Talent Forward apart as an HR consulting provider, sharing: “My relationships with so many talented industry professionals over the years allows me to develop firsthand insight into the unique talents required in navigating a credit union toward future success.”

“Selecting a new credit union leader is arguably the most daunting challenge a board will face,” Witteborg adds. “Assisting boards at every step of this process gives me the opportunity to contribute to the long-term success of their credit union. Plus, witnessing incoming credit union leaders grow and be successful in their new role is one of the most rewarding parts of my 40-plus-year career in HR and talent acquisition.”

Most notably, Talent Forward has completed 15 CEO searches to date, with hiring recommendations over the last two years resulting in the following leadership placements. *

  • Robert Dozier, Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union, Columbia, SC ($1.3B in assets)
  • Vicky Garcia, Latino Community Credit Union, Durham, NC ($910M in assets)
  • Marc Jacobson, CS Credit Union, City, St ($32.7M in assets)
  • David Mooney, Mid Carolina Credit Union ($167M in assets)
  • Richard Ryan, Nucor Employees Credit Union, Florence, SC ($63M in assets)

* Talent Forward has also conducted search consultations in recent months for Family Trust FCU.

“We’ve discovered that what boards and search committees really want when looking for top-rated talent is peace of mind,” said Beach. “They want to know that somebody understands their industry and focus, and that’s the unique insight our Talent Forward team brings to the table. And as succession planning rises on the priority list, be on the lookout for more information from the Talent Forward team on how your credit union can be prepared.”
