Carrie Hunt promoted to Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel of NAFCU

WASHINGTON, DC (December 8, 2015) — National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) President and CEO Dan Berger announced today the promotion of Carrie Hunt to executive vice president of government affairs and general counsel. Berger said the title change reflects not only Hunt’s ever-increasing responsibilities and duties, but her steadfast dedication to NAFCU, its member credit unions and the credit union industry as a whole.

“Carrie has helped NAFCU successfully tackle an extraordinary political climate in the financial services industry. She is an exemplary manager with an impressive work ethic and commitment to excellence,” said Berger.

Hunt came to NAFCU as associate director of regulatory affairs over 11 years ago. She was promoted to the division’s director and vice president before being named to her current position, senior vice president of government affairs and general counsel. She manages the association’s legislative, political, regulatory, compliance and research divisions. As senior vice president of government affairs, Hunt has given a voice to NAFCU’s members by supporting NAFCU’s influential presence on Capitol Hill. She acts as staff liaison to the federal regulatory agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).

In 2012, Hunt was named one of the Credit Union Times Women to Watch, for her direct, cooperative leadership style as well as her consistent contributions to the credit union community.

Hunt is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park and William and Mary School of Law. She is a member of the Virginia and Massachusetts Bars.

“I have had the good fortune to work with an exceptional group of colleagues in the government affairs department, including working for Dan, who gives us the freedom to advance and execute a broad range of policy initiatives,” said Hunt. “I am excited to continue serving NAFCU’s members and advance the association’s legislative and regulatory agenda.”
