Centra Credit Union has been named the 2023 recipient of the United Way of Bartholomew County’s Corporate Advocate Award. The award was announced at the United Way’s annual meeting on June 20.
The Corporate Advocate Award is reserved for businesses in the community who work relentlessly to lift up and give support to those who don’t feel heard.
“The United Way has such an incredible impact on our community, and we are honored to be recognized for our advocacy of their efforts.” Centra President and CEO Rick Silvers said. “We look forward to continuing to partner with them in support of their mission and to further enhance their ability to make a difference in Bartholomew County.”
Centra supports the United Way through an annual workplace campaign. In 2022, more than 280 Centra Team Members pledged a total of $103,350 for local United Way agencies. The United Way of Bartholomew County received $77,578.55 from the 2022 campaign, making Centra’s campaign the third largest in Bartholomew County.
Centra Team Members also support the United Way through volunteerism and donation drives. 34 Centra Team Members volunteered during the United Way of Bartholomew County’s 2023 Day of Caring, for a total of 136 volunteer hours. Centra supports Team Member participation by providing 24 hours of family and community time annually that Team Members can use to volunteer.
Centra also supported the United Way’s Community Food Drive in April, collecting more than 3,600 food items to donate.
