Central Pennsylvania Credit Unions support “Pay 4 Play” event to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
MIDDLETON, PA (November 15, 2013) — Central Pennsylvania credit unions sponsored “Pay 4 Play,” an annual fundraiser to benefit Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital affiliate. This year’s event, held November 7 and 8, was hosted by radio station 105.7, The X Rocks. The event raised $126,863.00 to support the medical treatment and hospital programs provided to young patients and their families.
Pay 4 Play is a 28-hour radio marathon that started at 5 a.m. During the fundraiser, listeners called in to request songs in exchange for donations. The further the song was from the radio station’s music library, the higher the donation needed to be for that song to be played. Mid-Atlantic Corporate’s staff volunteered along with several other credit union representatives to handle the event’s phone bank.
“Pay 4 Play is a great event and a wonderful opportunity for central Pennsylvania credit unions to join forces and show our spirit of cooperation in action,” said Erin Doan, chair of Mid-Atlantic Corporate’s Community Involvement Committee. “Our staff and member credit unions have always been supportive of these outreach efforts, generously giving their time and resources to important causes like this one.”
This marks the seventh annual Pay 4 Play fundraiser. With the proceeds from 2013, a total of $642,898.00 has been raised to benefit the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
