CFE Federal Credit Union named preferred credit union of Seminole State College

SANFORD, FL (August 19, 2014) — CFE Federal Credit Union (CFE) has been named the preferred credit union for Seminole State College of Florida.

“We are proud of our new partnership with Seminole State College,” said Joseph A. Melbourne Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of CFE. “We recognize the valuable service Seminole State College provides to our community as an innovative educational institution working to prepare students for the global marketplace. Our relationship will enable CFE to invest in the future leaders of Central Florida.”

As part of the agreement, which was approved unanimously by the Seminole State College District Board of Trustees on Monday, Aug. 18, CFE will develop on-campus financial literacy programs and customized financial products for faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, CFE’s annual contribution will be used to support various college initiatives.

“CFE Federal Credit Union is a great new partner that will add value to our college community as a sponsor of events and programs,” says President Dr. E. Ann McGee. “Their support will be integral as we increase our fundraising goals in tandem with Seminole State’s 50th anniversary next year.”

In conjunction with the partnership, CFE will offer a special debit card in early 2015 that will display the college’s logo. Each time a cardholder makes a purchase using the card, CFE will make a donation to the Foundation for Seminole State College. The Foundation will use the proceeds of the donations to provide scholarships and benefit other programs.

“Over the past several months we have worked with CFE to create a sponsorship of Seminole State that will impact this community for the next decade in such a positive way,” says Dr. John Gyllin, Executive Director of the Foundation for Seminole State College. “CFE is committed to educational success and is providing resources to the Foundation to help us achieve that success. We are excited about the opportunities that are created through this relationship.”

CFE also will participate in events on all four of Seminole State College’s campuses, contribute to programs at the Career Development Center, host money management workshops and install Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) on-site. In addition, CFE will be the presenting sponsor for the Foundation’s two largest fundraising events, the Dream Gala and the Dream Cup.

“Our partnership with Seminole State College affords us the opportunity to engage with a diverse community of students, staff and faculty members,” said Kevin Miller, Senior Vice President and General Counsel for CFE. “By supporting student programs and working closely with the college, we will equip the next generation with the financial tools they will need for lifelong success.”

Founded by teachers 77 years ago, CFE has remained close to its educational roots by offering financial literacy workshops for all ages, granting scholarships and opening branches on five high school campuses.
