CIO Magazine Names CUNA Mutual Group a CIO 100 Award Winner
Company Recognized For ‘Retirement Radar’ Mobile Annuity Planning Application
MADISON, WI (June 4, 2013) IDG’s CIO magazine has announced CUNA Mutual Group is among its 2013 CIO 100 award recipients. The 26th annual awards program recognizes organizations worldwide that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology.
This year’s honored project for CUNA Mutual Group was for its Retirement Radar mobile annuity planning application. Launched in November 2012, Retirement Radar leverages “gamification” techniques for tablet (iPad®), mobile, and PC use. By integrating gamified design and mechanics, Radar creates a clear sales experience for customers and financial advisors. Easy-to-understand icons and visual imagery enable the advisor to illustrate a fun, personalized solution to an otherwise serious, sometimes frightening, and complex topic of retirement income.
This year’s award recognition marks the sixth time CUNA Mutual Group has received the CIO 100 honor since 2004.
“It is a great honor to be a part of this year’s CIO 100 technology awards,” said Rick Roy, CUNA Mutual Group senior vice president and CIO. “This award is a true testament to the dedication and commitment of our people who push and challenge our ideas and innovation to help our credit union customers expand beyond traditional services and compete in the investment and financial services marketplace.”
CIO 100 award recipients were selected through a three-step process. Companies first submitted an online application detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Applications were then reviewed by judges who looked for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges’ recommendations and voted on the final 100.
“For 26 years, the CIO 100 awards have honored the innovative use of technology to deliver genuine business value,” said Maryfran Johnson, editor in chief of CIO magazine & events. “Our 2013 winners are an outstanding example of the transformative power of IT to drive everything from revenue growth to competitive advantage.”
Roy will accept the award on behalf of CUNA Mutual Group at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held Aug. 13, at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Complete coverage of the 2013 CIO 100 awards will be online at http://www.cio100.com on Aug. 1, and in the Aug. 1 issue of CIO magazine.
