Colorado Credit Unions host WOCCU visitors from Ireland
DENVER, CO (September 4, 2019) — Recently, several Colorado credit unions hosted a delegation of visiting representatives of several credit unions from Ireland in a World Council of Credit Unions exchange program. Sooper CU, Space Age FCU, Elevations CU and Canvas CU hosted credit unions to help share best practices, give insights into the regulatory environment and support strategic planning processes.
Sooper CU hosted Micheal McDermott, CEO of Virginia CU. During his visit, McDermott met with the team at Sooper CU. Sooper also arranged a meeting with Justin Dickson, CEO of Fidelis Catholic CU. During the visits, they shared strategic planning methods, operational information technology updates, lending strategies and other best practices.
Space Age FCU hosted Martina Cotter (CEO) and Marvin Board (CFO) from Synergy CU. During their visit, they also met with Jeff Holler and Brad Johnson from Aurora Schools FCU and Bob Fryberger from Fitzsimmons FCU. The NCUA was onsite at Space Age during the visit which allowed Sherry Hudson and Peter Driscoll to give an overview of the regulatory environment in the U.S.
Elevations CU and Canvas CU co-hosted Core Credit Union Ltd. Leaders from all three credit unions—and board members from Elevations and Canvas—participated in the numerous briefings on strategy and business model.
The trip wrapped up with a dinner for all the participants hosted by MWCUA.
