Community Financial Credit Union announces scholarship opportunity

BROOMFIELD, CO (March 18, 2015) — Community Financial Credit Union is offering three scholarships totaling $5,000 this year to both members and non-members of the Credit Union. Two scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to students who are members of the CreditUnion, or have a parent/guardian that is a member. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a student in our community who is not required to be a member of the Credit Union.

The Community Financial Credit Union Member Scholarship is open to high school seniors, college freshman, and college sophomores. The Community Financial Credit Union Community Scholarship is open to high school seniors who live or attendschool in Broomfield, Boulder, Westminster, Lafayette, Superior, or Louisville. There are no financial needs based requirements toapply for this scholarship; students who have a minimum 2.75 GPA and submit a complete application by April 15, 2015 will be considered.

The scholarship application process is different this year compared to previous years – applicants are encouraged to express theircreativity by making a personal video that exhibits their community involvement. Personal video submissions should include interviews from teachers and friends that answer how Community Financial Credit Union can help in their community aside from providing financial support for college. In addition, the candidate should make a good argument as to why he/she should receive thescholarship. Personal essay submissions with the same requirements will also be accepted in place of a video submission.

Community Financial Credit Union is committed to education and our community. In addition to scholarships, CommunityFinancial will be offering a series of financial literacy seminars to students in area high schools and members of thecommunity at large. The seminars will focus on a range of topics, including introductory retirement planning, first time home buying, building good credit, budgeting basics, and how credit unions operate.
