Congressman Sherman addresses advocates at CUNA GAC

WASHINGTON, DC (March 13, 2019) — Jim Nussle, CUNA president/CEO, released the following statement after Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), spoke at the 2019 Credit Union National Association Governmental Affairs Conference (CUNA GAC):

“We thank longtime credit union friend Congressman Sherman for speaking at CUNA GAC. He is doing everything possible to narrow the scope of harmful proposals that could impede upon the great work that credit unions do every day.”

Sherman highlighted key credit union issues including data security, PACE Loans, capital growth, privacy notifications, and interchange fees. He reassured credit unions of their rightful tax exemption status, “Don’t let them tell you it’s a loophole; don’t let them tell you that you’re not paying taxes when in fact, you are.”

Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan served as Sherman’s legislative director before joining CUNA.
