Connex Credit Union Coins-for-Change continues to raise money

This program supports four new charities each quarter and contributes more than $14,000 annuall

Connex recently donated $1,232.87 to S.M.A.R.T. Women (Single Mothers Actively Reaching the Top), a program offered through the Community Action Agency of New Haven. These funds were raised through Coins-for-Change, Connex’s philanthropic program that donates 100 percent of the fees collected at its coin-cashing machines to charitable organizations.

S.M.A.R.T Women is an 8-week program providing single mothers with a resource network, personal financial management training, information and referral services, and case management services focused on helping them to increase their level of self-sufficiency.

“Thank you so much for your donation to our S.M.A.R.T Women program, which helps women develop financial literacy and job readiness skills,” said Jenell Lawson, Deputy Director and Vice President of Human Resources at the Community Action Agency of New Haven.
