Cornerstone Community Financial celebrates 70th anniversary milestone with 70 acts of kindness

Throughout 2021, Credit Union Will Provide Support, Sponsorships and Surprises to Non-Profit Organizations, First responders, schools, members and community-at-large

AUBURN HILLS, MI (February 5, 2021)

Cornerstone Community Financial (CCF), a leading community-focused credit union with six branch locations and 25,000 members throughout SE Michigan and in Perrysburg, Ohio, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. To mark the milestone occasion, CCF is giving back to the customers and communities that have supported its growth and success since 1951, with 70 random acts of kindness throughout 2021, worth approximately $10,000.

The CCF 70th anniversary/70 acts of kindness effort kicked-off in January with hundreds of dollars in wish list donations to the Michigan Humane Society Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care, the Tigerlily Cat Rescue in Sterling Heights and the Toledo Humane Society in Maumee, Ohio. Additionally, the CCF team provided the City of Troy Police Department with on-the-go drinks and snacks for officers on patrol. Photos of these acts of kindness are available at www.ccfinancial.com/70years.

Each month, additional donations, volunteer hours, gifts/prizes and surprises will be shared with CCF members, area residents, non-profit organizations, first responder units and schools located in and around communities with CCF branch locations, including: Auburn Hills (CCF HQ), Center Line, Royal Oak, Sterling Heights and Troy in Michigan, as well as Perrysburg, Ohio.

“Growing and maintaining a successful community-based business over seven decades requires the trust, support and dedication of many people in many places,” said Heidi Kassab, CCF president and CEO. “We know how lucky we are to be able to serve our members and support the communities in which we do business, and we want to do our small part to show our appreciation for their patronage and backing over the years, as we celebrate this achievement, 70 years in the making.”

While many of the year-long 70 acts of kindness have already been planned, CCF also welcomes members of the community to nominate an organization that may need and is deserving of its support. For those interested, ideas and recommendations for the CCF 70 acts of kindness can be submitted by e-mail to marketing@CCFinancial.com.

CCF’s 70-year history began with its founding in 1951, when a handful of employees from the Motor Parts division of Chrysler came together to form a credit union (originally known as Motor Parts Credit Union). The income for the first month of business was just $1.18. From those humble beginnings, CCF has emerged as a progressive, full-service, state-chartered credit union, serving more than 25,000 members with nearly $290 million in total assets under management and $1.75 billion dollars in loans over seven decades.
