Credit union members urged to “Shop for Miracles” October 16, in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

SALT LAKE CITY (October 14, 2014) — Credit unions from 33 states and representing more than five million members are participating in Shop for Miracles, a one-day Credit Unions for Kids program raising funds for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on Oct. 16.

Each time members use their credit union-issued credit or debit card on Thursday, Oct. 16, the participating credit union will donate $0.25 or other pre-determined amount to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Like all Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals donations, funds raised locally will stay in the community to support the hospital’s greatest needs, often including life-saving research, treatments, equipment or charitable care.

“We’re thrilled by the generous support of our credit union partners and the enthusiasm behind this new event,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Shop for Miracles gives participating credit union members the opportunity to make an impact on local kids just by planning their regular shopping for Oct. 16. It’s a simple ask that can make a big difference for children in need.”

Credit unions fundraising under the Credit Unions for Kids brand since 1996 have raised nearly $130 million for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The Oct. 16 campaign coincides with International Credit Union Day® which celebrates the credit union difference and the work being accomplished around the world.
