Credit Union of Southern California to buy gas for Pomona residents on Christmas Eve

Holiday Campaign to Culminate in $20,000 Given to Community and Residents

ANAHEIM HILLS, CA (December 22, 2021) — This holiday season, Credit Union of Southern California (CU SoCal) has been giving back to the Pomona community through random acts of kindness as part of its “CU SoCal Cares” efforts. The campaign will culminate Christmas Eve, when CU SoCal employees will surprise visitors of a local Pomona gas station by filling up their tanks.

The CU SoCal Cares team kicked off Dec. 4, 2021 by partnering with the Pomona PD to help with its annual “Santa Cop” event. During the event, CU SoCal employees donated a $10,000 check to the police department to aid in its community efforts. Since then, the CU SoCal Cares team has visited various businesses throughout Pomona and surprised patrons by purchasing their coffee, snacks, meals, and more.

Additionally, on Dec. 20 the CU SoCal Cares team visited Cardenas Market in Pomona and surprised over 100 random shoppers with $100 gift cards.

This coming Christmas Eve, by the time the last gas tank is filled at local Pomona gas stations, the team will have given out approximately $20,000 — all in the name of the holiday campaign.

“CU SoCal Cares is our way of spreading holiday cheer based on our ‘People Helping People’ philosophy,” said Dave Gunderson, President and CEO of CU SoCal. “We make it a point to jump on any opportunity to lift spirits and help the communities we serve.”
