Credit Union Student Choice set to host fourth annual “Empower U” conference focused on opportunities in education finance

Credit Union Student Choice will host the fourth installment of its Empower U conference Sept. 26-27, 2018, in Nashville, Tenn. First held in Boston in 2015, Empower U is the first and only learning event in the credit union space to focus on the emerging opportunity in education finance.

“We’ve taken feedback from our attendees each year and truly built a ‘best of Empower U’ conference for 2018,” said Michael Weber, Chief Marketing Officer for Student Choice. “We’ve added interactive workshops and more opportunities for networking among credit union peers. We’re also thrilled to welcome back generational expert Seth Mattison to offer his keen insight about connecting with young adults. This is tremendously important as student lending offers credit unions an incredible opportunity for long-term relationships with the next generation of members.”

The conference will begin Wednesday, Sept. 26 with client workshops led by Student Choice staff, focusing on key topics such as marketing best practices and portfolio optimization. The small group sessions will be followed by opening keynote speaker Seth Mattison, who returns to Empower U after a highly-acclaimed 2015 session. The evening will conclude with an opening reception and dinner, followed by an awards presentation. Thursday, Sept. 27 will feature a full day of diverse topics and expert speakers. Ranging from a national economic outlook to consumer behavior insights to the higher education legislative landscape, the event will provide critically important information for credit unions involved in, or considering, student lending.

“Student Choice is committed to staying at the forefront of the private student lending industry,” said Weber. “Empower U gives us the opportunity to bring together credit union practitioners and industry experts to evaluate issues that are critical to success in today’s market, while also identifying future opportunities.”

More information and conference registration are available at empoweru.studentchoice.org. Empower U is open to all credit unions and is free for Student Choice client credit unions.
