Credit unions have a partner in mobile technology, a critical member retention solution

NAPERVILLE, IL (October 15, 2013) — At least half of the US population is already using smartphones.  Mobile apps make up the core of smartphone usage at a whopping 84 percent.  Most importantly, consumers and your credit union members are looking to perform core financial transactions utilizing this newest technology.

Credit unions, in their ever-continuing effort to remain competitive, are pinpointing mobile technology as the vehicle to capture and retain members and the tool that will be imperative to their future viability.

With its commitment to ‘Helping Credit Unions Compete,’ LSC is partnering with credit unions across the country to put a branch in every member’s hand.  Credit unions that jump on the mobile bandwagon by the end of 2013 via LSC’s CU Mobile solution will have an added bonus to their bottom line – free implementation – a value of $3,295.

As a division of ICUL Service Corporation, LSC currently serves nearly 3,000 of the nation’s credit unions in 49 states, by offering premium credit, debit, pre-paid debit, portfolio development assistance, ATM services and mobile applications with remote deposit capture.

Mobile app capabilities not only provide greater flexibility and convenience to credit unions, but will also help them expand their appeal to a younger market segment that has traditionally been less accessible to the movement.  In response, LSC began searching several years ago for a mobile solution to meet the needs of its credit unions and as a result, began offering CU Mobile in 2013.

Postal Family Federal Credit Union in Fargo, ND was the first in the nation to sign on with LSC.

“With a large percentage of the population carrying smartphones and utilizing mobile apps, it is a great way to put a branch in every member’s hand!” said Karen Andersen, CEO of Postal Family FCU. “Prior to our decision to select LSC’s Mobile Solutions, we researched other vendors for similar products.  LSC had their mobile app all ready to go and they were by far the best value for the money.  They have been great to work with and the process has gone very smoothly.  We’re very excited to be able to offer our members this innovative technology.”

The mobile solution offered through LSC is a great way for credit unions of all sizes to be able to offer this convenience to their members.  The premium mobile app has numerous capabilities which include but are not limited to – online/mobile banking connection, rates, loan calculators, specials, QR codes, push notifications and many more features.

It is simple and easy to use and customizable.  It also works well across all device types (smartphones and tablets), including iPhone, Android, and Kindle platforms.

“Mobile banking is the great equalizer for credit unions in today’s continuing highly competitive financial services marketplace and we want to help credit unions put a branch in every member’s hand,” said George Fiegle, LSC executive vice president and COO.  “The technology is here to stay, is a solution that credit union members are asking for, and is vital to credit union growth.”

A series of webinars are being offered for credit unions interested in learning more about the mobile solution through LSC.  For more information about the product and/or the webinars, please contact: sales@lsc.net.
