CU Realty Services issues eBook to help credit unions build relationships with real estate agents

CUSO sees CU-agent partnerships as key to boosting purchase mortgages

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (May 8, 2015) — Where do homebuyers go for advice on obtaining a mortgage? Their real estate agent. According to a recent Campbell & Associates survey, real estate agents recommend specific lenders 60 percent of the time – and buyers use those lenders 58 percent of the time.

To help credit unions better understand this influence and how to benefit from it, CU Realty Services is offering a new eBook – Got Realtors?

“With more than half of buyers turning to the lenders recommended by their agents, credit unions are missing out,” said Mike Corn, President/CEO of CU Realty Services, the industry’s leading real estate services CUSO.

“Our goal is to help credit unions understand the key role real estate agents play and how to team up with them for a ‘win-win’ relationship that can lead to more purchase mortgages,” he said.

Available as a free download, the CU Realty eBook guides credit union lending and marketing officers through four major topics:

— Homebuyer behaviors
— The true impact real estate agents make
— Key steps to establish a Realtor network
— Where to focus efforts

Corn says the average first-mortgage penetration for credit unions is between 2 percent and 3 percent, and ACUMA reports that only 7 percent of all credit union members have a mortgage with their credit union. “The opportunity to grow purchase mortgages is there, credit unions just need to team up with the right real estate agents to help,” he said.
