CUES Names 2011 Outstanding Executive Award and Hall of Fame Inductees

Madison, Wis.—The Credit Union Executives Society is pleased to announce Robert W. Hoefer, president/CEO, Dupaco Community Credit Union, Dubuque, Iowa, as the 2011 CUES Outstanding Executive, an award presented for excellence in leadership. Hoefer will be honored on Sunday, November 6, at CUES’ CEO/Executive Team Network in Las Vegas.

Hoefer has led Dupaco Community Credit Union for 40 years. Under his guidance, the credit union has grown from $3.4 million to $955 million in assets, and now serves over 63,000 members in a 28-county charter area with 257 full- and part-time employees. On the 2010 Callahan & Associates’ scorecard, Dupaco received an “A” on the “Return to the Member” Index, placing it in the 99th percentile for the $500 million to $1 billion asset group. Additionally, Dupaco provided $7,137,000, or $246 per member household, in direct financial benefits to its members from March 2009-10.

“As a CUES member since 1974, Bob’s dedication to the movement, Dupaco members, the community and CUES shines through in everything he does, demonstrating his superior leadership skills. The CUES Outstanding Executive award recognizes his many accomplishments and contributions. It is well deserved,” said CUES president/CEO, Fred Johnson.

CUES also honored five CUES Hall of Fame inductees: John J. Benoit, CSE, CCE, president/CEO, NorthCountry Federal Credit Union, South Burlington, Vt.; Ronald L. Hance, CUDE, president/CEO, Heritage Family Credit Union, Rutland, Vt.; Dale F. Schumacher, president/CEO, Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla.; Randy M. Smith, CPA, CCD, president/CEO, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, Universal City, Texas; William Strunk (deceased), founder and former chairman, Strunk & Associates, Houston.

CUES Hall of Fame inductees are nominated by the CUES Board of Directors for lifetime achievement and are recognized annually for their contributions to their profession and the industry.
