CUES Offers Free Report on Cooperative Principles in Honor of International Credit Union Day

MADISON, Wis.—The Credit Union Executives Society is making a whitepaper available to the credit union community in observance of International Credit Union Day. The Seven Cooperative Principles and Credit Unions That Live Them is available for download at cues.org/whitepapers.

“CUES is pleased to help celebrate the giving spirit of credit unions,” said Fred Johnson, CUES’ president/CEO. “Cooperatives around the world have been observing the ‘International Year of Cooperatives’ in 2012, and we developed this document to commemorate the event for our members.

“The seven values summarized in the whitepaper go back to 1844, when The Rochdale Principles first outlined fundamental concepts of cooperatives and the value of equality, equity and mutual self-help,” said Johnson. “Credit unions live these cooperative principles every day.”

The 30-page report discusses each principle individually, and explores credit unions from around the globe which have put the beliefs into practice. The download is available to everyone, regardless of their CUES Membership status.
