MADISON, Wis.—The Credit Union Executives Society is pleased to recognize 32 credit union executives who recently completed all three years of its prestigious executive education program, CEO Institute. In addition, 27 of the graduates earned their Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation, signifying their ongoing commitment to professional development. They join the ranks of 424 credit union leaders who have also obtained their CCE, and who are recognized throughout the credit union movement as having established a standard of educational excellence.

This three-part graduate-level program takes participants through the full spectrum of leadership preparation. Each of the intensive, week-long programs is held at a renowned business school: CEO Institute I: Strategic Planning at the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School, Philadelphia; CEO Institute II: Organizational Effectiveness at Cornell University, Johnson Graduate School of Management, Ithaca, N.Y.; and CEO Institute III: Strategic Leadership Development at the University of Virginia, Darden  School of Business, Charlottesville, Va.

Leon Eichten, senior vice president/CFO of US Federal Credit Union, Burnsville, Minn., and a recent graduate, credits the program with making him a stronger leader.

“CUES’ CEO Institute provided a wonderful mind broadening educational experience. The professors were top-flight. The in-depth case studies, unique leadership activities and networking opportunities left me with a lasting impression,” Eichten said.

In 2012, CEO Institute I reached capacity, resulting in the need to start a waiting list for registrants, so early registration is recommended for 2013. Fred Johnson, CUES’ president/CEO, was pleased so many credit unions realize education is vital to success. Johnson said, “The fact that the first week of CEO Institute sold out this year, despite many credit unions facing uncertain times, is a testament to the program’s value and results.”
