CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference slated for March 2-4, 2021

Advocates are invited to share credit union priorities with policymakers

WASHINGTON, DC (August 31, 2020) — Credit Union National Association (CUNA) announced today that the 2021 Credit Union National Association’s Governmental Affairs Conference (CUNA GAC), the premier event for political impact in the credit union industry, would move to an interactive virtual format on March 2-4, 2021. This year’s conference will be delivered via a premium virtual platform that will bring together credit unions, leagues, thought leaders and policymakers for a dynamic online experience.

“We’re breaking new ground with the 2021 CUNA GAC. It’s a can’t-miss event that demonstrates the very best of the movement,” said Todd Spiczenski, CUNA Chief Products and Services Officer. “It might feel a little different, but the goal of coming together to strengthen the credit union system is more important now than it’s ever been. We’re bringing all the features our participants have come to expect, from world-class keynoters and breakout sessions covering the biggest issues facing credit unions, to unparalleled networking and advocacy opportunities.”

Each year, thousands of industry advocates come together at CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference to share credit union priorities with policymakers. With 2021 shaping up to be the most consequential advocacy year in a generation, it’s imperative the new Congress, and potentially a new administration, understand the credit union difference.

“Credit unions have stepped up to serve their members and communities hit by the pandemic, and they have quite the story to tell,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “CUNA GAC has long been the credit union movement’s premier advocacy event, and in 2021 it will be more important than ever to engage with a new Congress to share our stories and work together on ways credit unions can help Americans recover from the pandemic and increase financial wellness in their communities.”

Conference participants will hear from influential business and political thought leaders while exploring key advocacy topics that impact credit unions and their 120 million members.

Key advocacy topics include:

    • Preserving the tax status and fighting bank attacks
    • Regulatory relief
    • Bolstering main street in good times and bad
    • COVID relief

CUNA GAC is also a chance to discover ideas and solutions for leaders to grow their credit unions. The virtual format of this year’s conference will open up even more opportunities for emerging leaders to build their network and connect with exhibitors in the virtual exhibit hall.
