CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council Discusses Strategies for Community-Based BD

MADISON, WI (September 12, 2013) — While the sky may seem the limit for community-based credit union growth, a harsher reality speaks otherwise. As the ongoing large-scale conversion to community charters continues, credit unions are finding that switching the charter does not necessarily equate to automatic growth. When it comes to community charters, it is certainly not a case of “if you build it, they will come.”

In response to the challenges modern community-based credit unions are facing from a marketing and business development perspective, a new white paper from the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council, “Developing Strategies for Community-Based Credit Unions,” has been published.  The paper offers practical suggestions and real world examples from the industry. The following topics are covered:

I. The Evolution of Community Charter Marketing
II. Determining Your Credit Union’s Market Niche
III. Becoming an Active Community Partner
IV. Creating Unique Member Experiences
V. Encouraging Employee Involvement
VI. Case Studies

CUNA Council members are eligible to receive complimentary copies of this, and over 300 other white papers; non-Council members may purchase white papers for $50 per copy.

The paper is available online in the white paper section of www.cunacouncils.org.

Press may contact Natalie Sherry at nsherry@cuna.coop for a copy of the white paper.
