DCCU credit card campaign makes a difference

WAYNESBORO, VA (October 13, 2020) — DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) recently held a special credit card campaign – Dine Out & Make a Difference – that benefitted its members and the community. During the months of July and August, DCCU credit card holders were rewarded with 4 times rewards points or 4% cash back for making restaurant purchases, which was especially important as many local restaurants experienced significant slowdowns due to the pandemic.

“Whether someone chose to carry out, dine in, drive-thru, or have their meal delivered, their meal purchases helped support restaurants at a time when they needed it the most,” said Amanda Cashatt, DCCU’s Card Services Manager. “We were also excited for the opportunity to support the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank through this campaign.”

To support the needs of local families, DCCU made the commitment to donate 1% of all restaurant purchases to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, where every $1 donated helps provide 4 meals. As a result of its Dine Out & Make a Difference campaign, DCCU was pleased to donate $13,394.58 to the Food Bank, which will help provide over 53,000 meals for families in need.

“We are truly grateful for DuPont Community Credit Union and their support of our work—especially now,” said Michael McKee, CEO of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. “Demand for our help has been on the rise since the pandemic took hold. Some of the visitors in our lines are seeking food assistance for the first time. Proceeds from the Dine Out & Make a Difference campaign will help nourish individuals and families at risk of missing vital meals.”

“We deeply appreciate the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the important role they play in helping to alleviate hunger in our community, and also how our members supported this campaign, which is remarkable especially in these challenging times,” Cashatt added.
