DCCU donates over $44,000 to Habitat for Humanity

WAYNESBORO, VA (December 8, 2021) — DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) recently donated $44,408 Habitat for Humanity. These four local affiliates serving the Shenandoah Valley each received $11,102 to continue their mission of helping families build safe and affordable homes in our community:

  • Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity, Winchester, VA
  • Central Valley Habitat for Humanity, Bridgewater, VA
  • Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity, Staunton, VA
  • Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity, Lexington, VA

DCCU held various campaigns and fundraisers throughout the year to provide this donation.

Corporate Charity
Each year, DCCU employees work together to raise funds for a local, non-profit organization as part of its Corporate Charity Campaign. Through employee fundraisers and donations, we collected $7,417.

Make a Difference when you DIY Campaign
DCCU held a credit card campaign that encouraged the use of a DCCU credit card for purchases at do-it-yourself (DIY) merchants. DCCU donated 2% of all spend at DIY merchants, totaling $28,291.

DCCU Cares Virtual 5K/10K
For the second year in a row, DCCU replaced its traditional corporate volunteering activity with a Virtual 5K/10K over the Columbus Day holiday weekend. Employees chose their location and could invite a friend or family member to join them. For each participant, DCCU donated $25 for a 5K and $50 for a 10K. A total of 255 people participated, which garnered a donation of $8,700.

“These efforts demonstrate DCCU’s support of local organizations doing noble work in our community,” said Steve Elkins, DCCU’s President/CEO. “We continue to look for ways we can help make our community stronger, and supporting Habitat for Humanity in their pursuit of providing affordable housing options for families in need is well-aligned with DCCU’s commitment to financial wellness.”
