DCECU employees adopt boulevard and pitch in to clean up

MIDLAND, MI (December 3, 2013) —  Recently, more than 20 Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union employees teamed up to clean almost a mile of the boulevard area in front of the credit union.

Dressed in warm clothes and bright-yellow reflector vests, staff members cleaned up trash and other debris between East Lyon and East Patrick roads between Pine and Washington streets.

Even DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson pitched in to help clean up the area around the bicycle and pedestrian path that runs through the boulevard area.

“Our employees work hard, both as members of the DCECU staff and as members of the community,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. “I enjoy the time we spend as a team, whether it’s as good stewards of our neighborhood or through support of community organizations.”

In addition to volunteer events such as the boulevard cleanup, DCECU employees also engage in fundraising for various causes. In 2013, the employees have raised $3,759.00 for charitable and community organizations through regular Jeans Day fundraisers and nearly $1,700.00 for Midland Cancer Services through the third annual “Pink Out” silent auction and bake sale. The credit union also awarded $15,000 in scholarships through the Midland Community Foundation to local college and college-bound students.
