DCUC Virtual Annual Conference: “Together in Spirit” Fundraiser

WASHINGTON, DC (August 13, 2020) — DCUC is proud to announce that its “Together in Spirit” Fundraiser, held during its virtual annual conference, was a huge success. Though attendees couldn’t be together this year, it did nothing to slow the spirit of giving.

For the past 17 years, DCUC has supported military and veteran charities as part of its Annual Conference. This year, the virtual Fundraiser included an online Silent Auction and raffle for a patriotic blanket, handmade by Eileen Ehrsam, a long-time friend of DCUC. Prior to the start, DCUC set a goal to raise $7,000 for the American Gold Star Mothers of Northern California, which was chosen when this year’s conference was scheduled to be held in San Francisco.

Thanks to the generosity of DCUC members, sponsors, and supporters, not only was the goal met, it was far exceeded. In total, $9,725 was raised, all of which is being matched by the DCUC Board of Directors to give a total of $19,450.

This donation will be a great boost to their mission of turning “Sorrow into Service.” It will go towards enhancing their work at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, CA, and providing services to their local homeless Veteran population. It is an important organization, and one that DCUC is pleased to be able to support.

For everyone that donated an item, bid, bought raffle tickets, and donated, thank you. The defense credit union community continues to be one of the most generous and giving, and DCUC is incredibly grateful to be a part of it.
