Delta Community Credit Union welcomes New Year’s babies

ATLANTA, GA (January 2, 2014) —  Remaining committed to supporting the communities it serves, Delta Community Credit Union (www.deltacommunitycu.com), Georgia’s largest credit union, announces its plan to open savings accounts in the amount of $500 for the first baby born at each of five Metro Atlanta Piedmont hospitals. Additionally, the family of the first baby born at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital will receive a gift basket full of handy newborn baby items. The other four participating Piedmont hospitals are Piedmont Henry Hospital, Piedmont Newnan Hospital, Piedmont Fayette Hospital and Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

“The New Year is a time of renewal, excitement and optimism,” said Hank Halter, CEO of Delta Community Credit Union. “Piedmont is well-known for providing quality healthcare to individuals and families in the Atlanta area. Like Piedmont, Delta Community is a caring organization committed to bringing greater value to the members we serve. It’s our privilege to partner with such an outstanding organization and extend a financial head-start to the children awarded these donations.”

Delta Community Credit Union will give the families of the first baby born at each of five Piedmont Hospital branches a certificate to be redeemed for a $500 Savings Account at Delta Community. The Credit Union has 23 Metro Atlanta locations and serves more than 285,000 members.

“We appreciate the support of Delta Community Credit Union through its donation to these five “first” babies born at our hospitals,” said Kathy King, senior director of women and infant services at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. “Delta Community’s giveaway will allow these families to begin saving for their children’s financial futures.”

This New Year’s Baby event is another way Delta Community Credit Union continues its commitment to the communities it serves. In addition, Delta Community has a long-standing relationship with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. It also maintains Serve & Deserve, a unique and innovative fundraising program that gives high school students the opportunity to raise money for charitable organizations and, in turn, receive matching in-kind donations for their schools. With the establishment of its Philanthropic Fund, the Credit Union will also award an additional $70,000 in 2014 to other charitable organizations in and around Atlanta.
