Drive for Hope 2010 Raises $36,000 for Lung Cancer Research MADISON, Wis.- Drive for Hope 2010 fundraising efforts have resulted in a total donation of $36,000 to the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center*s *Creating
Hope* Lung Cancer Campaign to provide facilities, researchers and support for lung cancer research.
This impressive contribution was achieved with the help of the credit union industry and individuals from the surrounding communities at the fifth annual Drive for Hope golf tournament held August 9 at Nakoma Golf Club in Madison, Wis., and through participation in the Drive for Hope Online Auction. Since 2006, Drive for Hope has donated $336,000 to *Creating Hope.*
*Year after year I*m inspired by the generosity and support the credit union industry and local communities show Drive for Hope. So many dedicated and giving individuals contribute to this tournament, bringing us even closer to creating hope for those battling lung cancer and their
families,* said Fred Johnson, president/CEO of the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES), whose late wife, Linda, died from lung cancer.
Johnson thanked tournament sponsors: The Malcolm Stack Foundation, Uniek, CUNA Mutual Group, TDS Telecom, Fred and Mary Johnson, The Members Group and CUES. Numerous other CUES Supplier members, individuals and local companies supported the Drive for Hope tournament and the Drive for Hope Online Auction by donating items to the raffle and auctions, as well as making monetary contributions.
