Early registration savings deadline rapidly approaching for NAFCU’s 2014 regulatory compliance school, March 10-15

WASHINGTON, DC (December 3, 2013) —  Credit union professionals attending the National Association of Federal Credit Unions’ (NAFCU) 2014 Regulatory Compliance School will acquire the knowledge necessary to master the latest industry rules and compliance guidelines. The School will be held March 10-15, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. The deadline for early registration savings for association members and nonmembers is Jan. 17.

“Now more than ever, it is essential that credit unions have a solid understanding of up-to-date regulations and laws that they must adhere to,” said JiJi Bahhur, NAFCU director of regulatory compliance and NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO). “The School will be a vital resource for credit unions handling any new compliance changes that arise in this increasingly complex regulatory environment.”

Beyond Bahhur, attendees will get to hear from other NAFCU elite team members including Dan Berger, president and CEO, Bernadette Clair, NCCO, senior regulatory compliance counsel, and Michael Coleman, NCCO, director of regulatory affairs.

Other leading compliance experts in the industry who will be presenting are Suzanne Garwood, partner of Venable LLP; John Harwell, NCCO, associate vice president of risk management of Apple Federal Credit Union; Andy Keeney, partner of Kaufman & Canoles; Devon Lyon, NCCO, manager of compliance and BSA of State Department Federal Credit Union, and Rusty Vellek, NCCO, compliance officer of Transportation Federal Credit Union.

Topics that will be covered at the School include credit union bylaws, the National Credit Union Administration’s (NCUA) lending regulations, Regulation Z, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) and more.

Additional School highlights include:

  • an entire day devoted to regulatory updates;
