eDOC’s 4th Annual Walk for Charity
MIDDLEBURY, VT (June 18, 2019) — In efforts to improve the quality of life for people in their community, eDOC Innovations’ 4th Annual Step Challenge, No Lazy Days in May, raised $700 for the Vermont Community Foundation by walking more than 9.3 million steps (about 4,655 miles). As in the past, staff from both eDOC Innovations and CU*Answers joined together to hit the road in the spirit of CUSO collaboration.
Steven Davis, 1st place winner, walked almost a million steps in the 5-week challenge, with almost 30 miles in just one day! Second place winner Ramon Cano walked 822,885 steps, and Keith Kramer took 3rd place with 524,508 steps. “This is a tough crowd to beat,” laughed Tristan Kiel, organizer of the event. “All three are 1st place winners, Kramer in 2018, Davis in 2017, and Cano in 2016. At the award ceremony on June 5th, Davis was still limping, and Cano joked, ‘I’m sick of walking!’”
The No Lazy Days Step Challenge reflects eDOC Innovations’ concern for the local community, one of the core cooperative principles. The Vermont Community Foundation was established as a permanent source of support for the state. Community foundations throughout United States are public charities serving people who share a common interest to improve the quality of life in their area.
