Filene and Michael Neill & Associates Launch Vertex Manager Training Program

Credit union veteran Steve Winninger joins program as a performance coach

MADISON, WI (May 13, 2013) Filene Research Institute and Michael Neill & Associates will help credit unions maximize employee productivity and profitability with its new Vertex program, a year-long virtual management development program for middle managers.

During the program, performance coaches work with managers one-on-one to assess current performance, create customized management development plans using web-based training modules and support plan execution. Performance coaches include: Steve Winninger, retired CEO of Lake Trust Credit Union; Michael Neill, President of Michael Neill & Associates; and, Tansley Stearns, Impact Director at Filene.

“Most manager trainings are lengthy, expensive and lack individual customization,” said Neill. “Vertex resolves these challenges while leading to improved sales and service levels, reduced mistakes, and increased employee accountability for credit unions.”

“Vertex stems from our ‘Attributes and Skills of Highly Effective Credit Union Management’ report that suggests the best credit union managers are learners, energetic, decisive and good communicators,” said Jason Milesko, Filene’s Chief Impact Officer. “Vertex helps credit unions cultivate these types of managers.”

Credit unions currently using Vertex include: FedChoice Federal Credit Union, Collins Community Credit Union, NuPath Community Credit Union and 121 Financial Credit Union.

“As a long time and early supporter of Filene, I’m excited to be connected with this valuable program,” said Winninger. “Michael has put together some very powerful information that even seasoned managers would find valuable. I wish I had access to this years ago.”

“This program has put me on the path to becoming a better leader,” said Debbie Wright, Marketing Manager at FedChoice Federal Credit Union. “And, by having better leaders at FedChoice, the credit union will experience cascading benefits such as improved employee engagement, motivation and productivity.”

Program participation costs $3,950 per manager and includes a certification designation. Participants can start the program at anytime. Learn more about Vertex at filene.org or sign up here.
