Filene Research Institute Announces Addition of Tansley Stearns as New Director of Innovation Applied Research

MADISON, WI – The Filene family is growing. The Filene Research Institute is pleased to announce that Tansley Stearns is joining the Institute as director of innovation applied research.

“Tansley is a perfect addition to the Filene team,” says Jason Milesko, Filene’s chief of advisory services. “Tansley is one of Filene’s original i3ers, and her expertise will be invaluable. She will make sure that the ideas that come out of Filene are right for credit unions.”

In her new role, Tansley will be responsible for transforming research and innovation into action.  In her previous roles at credit unions, she was responsible for developing and implementing strategy and leading and driving business with all frontline teams including the call center, branches, marketing, and business development. Tansley began her career in credit unions over 14 years ago and was most recently an assistant vice president of corporate strategy and government relations at Bethpage Federal Credit Union in New York.

“As Filene focuses on bringing useful innovations into credit unions, we are thrilled to have somebody with Tansley’s track record,” Milesko says.

Tansley started her career leading an award winning marketing team for several years before expanding to lead branches and business development, further developing her sales experience. Tansley has been a key member of the Guiding Coalition at two credit unions, helping to build and develop sales and service cultures. She also helped her credit union win first place in both the Dora Maxwell & Louise Herring awards.

Tansley is one of the original credit union professionals chosen to be a participant in the Filene Research Institute’s i3 program. In her three years with i3,she worked with other credit union executives to create two innovative projects, including Debt in Focus and SmartScore.

Tansley earned her Bachelor of Arts dual degree in Psychology and English at the University of Michigan.  She is a Credit Union Executive Society Certified Marketing Executive and Certified Senior Executive.  She is an Alumni Emeritus of Michael Neill and Associates.
