Filene Research Institute announces the launch of a new mobile app pilot

Consumer Finance think tank excited to announce Larky pilot to benefit credit unions and their members

MADISON, WI (August 4, 2014) — Filene Research Institute, a consumer finance think tank, is excited to announce the launch of a pilot with Larky, a start-up organization based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Larky is the brainchild of Gregg Hammerman and Andrew Bank who were frustrated by their inability to use discounts they were due from various member organizations.

Recent Filene research discusses the importance of credit unions leveraging mobile applications to engage with members. With that sentiment in mind, Filene is partnering with Larky to pilot a mobile app that aims to help credit union members take full advantage of the many memberships they have, including those with local merchants and vendors. This pilot opportunity will boost member engagement and drive revenue while keeping credit union debit/credit cards top of wallet, all of which are key strategic imperatives.

“Our experience working with credit unions on Impact pilots has proven to be mutually beneficial – a great way for credit unions to try something new with hands-on support from the Filene team and a great way for Filene to bring ROI-driven programs that are grounded in research to credit unions,” stated Tansley Stearns, chief impact officer, Filene. “And our aim with the Larky pilot is to help credit unions provide their members with an engaging mobile app that builds loyalty.”

“We are genuinely excited to be working with Filene on this pilot. Filene and Larky share a common vision to help consumers be more financially savvy, to save them money, and to strengthen credit unions for the long term,” said Gregg Hammerman, co-founder of Larky.
