Financial technology, artificial intelligence, and intelligence on the American political divide to headline NWCUA’s Annual MAXX Convention

Hundreds of industry thought leaders are expected in Tacoma, Washington, Oct. 16-18.

SEATAC, WA (September 11, 2018) — What’s at the root of America’s political divide? What do credit unions need to know about the midterm elections? Chris Stirewalt, Fox News Channel’s Politics Editor, can provide straight up insight! Stirewalt’s signature style breaks down complex political issues in a way that people can understand and enjoy, while offering astute commentary on the current political climate. His insights are a balance of meaty political expertise and entertaining anecdotes.  He’s on the mainstage at the Northwest Credit Union Association’s (NWCUA) MAXX Convention October 17. *

In addition to Stirewalt, other keynote speakers include award-winning innovator Tyrone Poole, the founder of OneApp, a movement designed to make applying for rental homes easier and more cost efficient. Helping credit unions find affordable housing solutions is a key focus of NWCUA and the Northwest Credit Union Foundation (NWCUF).

When NPR, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and the Harvard Business Review want insight about why some products and ideas catch on when others fail, they often quote Jonah Berger, a behavioral science expert from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania. Berger is also a keynoter at MAXX.

MAXX breakout and impact sessions will address cyber security, artificial intelligence (AI), public awareness, advocacy strategies, and more. Also on the menu:

  • Start spreading the news. “New York, New York” is the theme for this year’s auction benefitting Credit Unions for Kids—the Northwest Credit Union Movement’s legacy charity. The auction is always highly anticipated and last year’s event raised over $300,000 for the region’s Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
  • The MAXX Awards recognizing the Northwest’s most outstanding credit unions and professionals. Two newly minted categories this year will include, “Members on Main Street,” honoring credit unions’ work serving the specific character of their members, and “Cooperation in Action,” celebrating successful collaboration in the Movement.
  • The Strategic Link Trade Show, the Credit Union Movement’s shopping mall for technology, efficiency, innovation, and business solutions.

More than 700 credit union professionals from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington are expected to attend, along with more than 100 business partners.

Trade media are invited to cover MAXX 2018.  The agenda, travel, and location information can be found online. Please contact Lynn Heider, Vice President/Public Affairs, with any special coverage requests. lheider@nwcua.org.

*Coverage of Chris Stirewalt’s address is open to media. No live streaming is permitted, and video clips for later distribution are limited to two minutes in length. Chris is open to one-on-one interviews.
