Foundation receives Diamond Awards for outstanding achievements in marketing & business development

Honors received for new podcast & life simulation video

The National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) was honored last week with two Diamond Awards, which recognize outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry.

“The credit union industry has no shortage of marketing and business development talent, but, as the name of the prize suggests, these professionals shine the brightest,” said Amber Scott, Chair of the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council’s Diamond Awards Committee and VP Marketing & Communications at 1st MidAmerica CU. “Bold, inventive and fearless in the face of uncertainty, the 2017 Diamond Award winners inspire us to aim higher and try new approaches.”

The Foundation received the two Diamond Awards for the following projects:

  • “Murmurings” Podcast – The new series from the Foundation won a Diamond Award in the “Content Marketing” category. Each podcast highlights best practices in the credit union movement to spark ideas and action around financial education, financial well-being, philosophy and philanthropy.
  • “Life Simulation” Video – The Foundation video, which showcases the Foundation’s Life Simulation kit, won a Diamond Award in the “Video” category. The Life Simulation experience is designed to help credit union employees, volunteers and leadership begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be recognized for our work and amidst such great company,” said Christopher Morris, Foundation Director of Communications. “In their respective ways, both our podcast and Life Simulation have been very popular with credit union professionals since launching last year, so receiving such high honors as well is extremely gratifying.”

The award was presented by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Marketing & Business Development Council, a national network comprised of over 1,200 credit union marketing and business development professionals. Awards are given in each of 30 categories ranging from advertising to community events and beyond. Award winners were recognized at the council’s 24th annual conference held March 29-April 1 in San Antonio, Texas.
