Four more PSCU credit unions enable members to use Apple Pay

ST PETERSBURG, FL (February 4, 2015) — PSCU announced today that Visa cardholders with consumer debit and credit cards from Altra Federal Credit Union (Onalaska, WI), Andrews Federal Credit Union (Suitland, MD), and Wescom Credit Union (Pasadena, CA); and members with credit cards from BECU (Tukwila, WA) now have access to Apple Pay, which transforms mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay.

The credit unions are enabling members to pay in participating stores with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, upon availability. Within apps, Apple Pay is compatible with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. Apple Pay is easy to set up and members will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by Visa and their credit unions.

Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When members add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of your card.

“Relevance is the most potent and viable seed for credit union growth and prosperity,” said Michael Kelly, PSCU President & CEO. “Apple Pay and tokenization are major innovations in helping credit unions make the digital shift needed to capture and hold the attention and loyalty of current and future members. They are the future for our credit unions’ continued growth and success and they need this technology for convenience and security in their transactions.”

PSCU has processes in place to support credit union members’ calls for assistance related to their set-up and use of Apple Pay. Representatives in the company’s Total Member CareTM 24/7/365 contact centers are equipped to help members enroll their credit union card into Apple Pay, as well as perform ongoing maintenance of digital tokens associated with the cards in the mobile wallet.
