Frank DeGraw of Sunmark Federal Credit Union presented at 19th annual CUNA Lending Council conference in Phoenix, AZ

LATHAM, NY (December 2, 2013) — Frank DeGraw, executive vice president of Sunmark Federal Credit Union, presented at the 19th Annual Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Lending Council Conference in Phoenix, AZ.

DeGraw presented as part of a panel discussion on Loan Growth Best Practices with Kathy Begley, vice president of operations/credit at the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union in Lexington, KY and Chris Perez, vice president of lending/loss mitigation at Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union in Berkeley, CA. Participation on this panel was predicated by the credit union being named a Lending Council Excellence in Lending award winner.

In 2012, Sunmark Federal Credit Union was one of six credit unions from across the U.S. to be recognized for Excellence in Lending in the Mortgage category (more than $250 million in assets.) Sunmark was cited for its shift from a refinance focus in 2009 and 2010 to an emphasis on purchase in 2011 and 2012, a strong, top-down commitment to building the mortgage department and leveraging the power of front-line employees.

The Latham-based credit union adapted to the region’s economic conditions by going from a business based predominantly on refinance to one of purchase volume. Additionally, Sunmark has offered an increased number of products including no closing costs and no-PMI mortgage options and continued to build strong relationships with Capital Region-based Realtors.

Sunmark is rated the fifth-largest mortgage lender in the Albany, NY market.
