GKCU announces new EVP/Chief Lending Officer

GEORGETOWN, SC (January 3, 2018) — The GKCU Board of Directors is pleased to announce Keith Wilcox has been promoted to Executive Vice President / Chief Lending Officer for the credit union.  He officially began his new position on January 1, 2018.

Wilcox has been with GKCU for the past 6 years as the Vice President of Lending. In his new position, Wilcox will expand his role with the lending department at the credit union’s five branches, as well as assume responsibilities with annual audits, internal and external financial controls, working closely with management to add new products and services applicable to member success and overall growth for the credit union.

Wilcox joined the staff in 2011 after many years within the financial services industry in banking. As the VP of Lending, Wilcox has been responsible for managing the credit union’s lending staff and policies and procedures, the expansion of loan and mortgage portfolio and implementation of measurable loan growth. Wilcox is a native of Georgetown County and a graduate of University of South Carolina. He is married and has two children.  He is an active member and past President of Rotary Club of Georgetown and a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church.

Keith’s expertise and leadership made him a natural selection for his promotion to Executive Vice President,” states President / CEO Kevin Owens. “Keith has been instrumental in ensuring our loan growth has been steady but also fair and beneficial to the members. Add to that his community involvement and forward thinking ambition, he will help GKCU grow for years to come,” states Owens.

Since opening in 1952, GKCU has been fulfilling its purpose of being an affordable financial solution for residents who live, work or attend school in Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties. While at GKCU, Wilcox has helped to strengthen the loan portfolio with standard lending practices and procedures, implementation of third party auditing to ensure fiduciary responsibility, oversaw annual audits for accountability and expanded the mortgage lending offerings. Currently, GKCU serves over 14,000 members in Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties, asset size over $106 million and has a staff of over 60 employees.
