SACRAMENTO, Calif., October 15, 2012 — Golden 1 Credit Union, in its ongoing efforts to invest in California’s future leaders, is launching a new college scholarship program for Golden 1 Credit Union members and their dependents.
The Golden 1 Credit Union Scholarship will provide awards in three amounts: $1,000 to full-time students who plan to attend an accredited, nonprofit two-year college in California, and $2,500 or $5,000 to full-time students who plan to attend an accredited, nonprofit four-year college or university in California, equaling a total of $90,000 in distributed awards for Fall 2013.

The scholarships are renewable to cover the full two or four years of college. To apply, students must have a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher, be involved in community service and extracurricular activities, and the student or the student’s parent or guardian must have been a Golden 1 member for at least one year.

Applications will be accepted from October 15, 2012 through January 15, 2013. Selected scholarship recipients will be notified in April 2013, and scholarship funds will be disbursed to the student’s California college or university in August 2013.
