The Golden Bear Award acknowledges individuals and businesses that have furthered the State Fair’s mission of showcasing California’s economic and cultural diversity, and have rendered meritorious service and support to the California State Fair. This prestigious award was first presented in 1977.

“All of us at Golden 1 are very proud to be honored with this year’s Golden Bear Award,” said Donna Bland, President and CEO. “We have a strong and long-standing partnership with our friends on the Cal Expo and State Fair management teams, and we thank the Friends of the California State Fair and Congressman, John Garamendi, for bestowing this honor on Golden 1 Credit Union. Golden 1 has been a supporter and sponsor of the California State Fair for more than 15 years. At the Golden 1 Concert Stage, many talented performers have entertained fair attendees over the years. Golden 1 also provides more than 20 ATMs throughout the Cal Expo grounds giving State Fair attendees convenient access to cash. And in 2013, Golden 1 funded the installation of the CALIFORNIA letters at the main entrance of the fairgrounds creating an instant landmark for State Fair attendees for many years to come.
