Goldenwest Launches Mobile Deposit

OGDEN, UT (April 30, 2013) – Goldenwest Credit Union recently added mobile deposit functionality to their mobile apps. The new feature is available for Android, iPhone, iPad and iPad mini devices.

“With mobile deposit, Goldenwest is taking mobile banking convenience to the next level for our members,” said Kerry Wahlen, Goldenwest President/CEO. “While we always enjoy personally assisting members at our branch locations, it is likely more convenient for them to deposit checks from their home or business anytime they choose.”

The mobile deposit functionality is available to members with personal or business checking accounts. To activate the mobile deposit feature, members need to download the GWCU app upgrade on their mobile device.

Goldenwest partnered with industry-leaders Bluepoint Solutions and Access Softek to develop the remote deposit capture technology that is used within the credit union’s mobile banking apps.

Checking account access via mobile devices is fast becoming a consumer expectation. Since the initial release of their mobile banking app in 2010, 25 percent of Goldenwest’s members have accessed their accounts via the mobile branch.

“Mobile banking is critical component in Goldenwest’s overall strategy to actively engage our members in the process of managing their finances,” continued Wahlen. “While PCs and laptops aren’t always readily available for online account access, people almost always keep their mobile devices close-at-hand.”

In addition to mobile deposit, Goldenwest members can check account balances, pay bills, transfer funds within their account, view transaction history, and locate the nearest branch or ATM with the mobile app. For non-web-enabled mobile users, Goldenwest offers account access via SMS text messaging.

The April 2013 mobile app upgrade also includes a feature that allows users to transfer funds to other Goldenwest members’ accounts.
