Great Falls, MT and Spokane Valley, WA credit unions to merge
GREAT FALLS, MT (May 17, 2022) — Members of Embark Credit Union, based in Great Falls, MT voted “yes” to merge with Horizon Credit Union, headquartered in Spokane Valley, WA.
Voting occurred electronically and by mail, followed by a special membership meeting on May 5 with voting completed and certified on May 6.
The new combined organization will have over 113,000 members and nearly $1.8B in assets. This means greater strength and stability for both credit unions and their members. It also expands members’ access to 31 branches throughout the inland northwest from central Washington, Montana, north and south Idaho and eastern Oregon.
“This merger unites two strong, successful credit unions with similar values by providing our members with quality service and keeping a commitment to staying local,” said Jeff Adams, president / CEO of Horizon. “We are excited to be bringing our products and services to the community of Great Falls.”
“With the positive vote, we are pleased to officially join our two organizations together in late July. Together as one, Embark members will enjoy more products and services, additional technology, expertise in cybersecurity and more convenience,” said Deb Evans, current president / CEO of Embark CU.
Evans will continue to lead the local market in the new organization and will sit on the Embark Advisory Board. Adams will retain his role of president / CEO of the combined organization.
The merger will be effective August 1 when Embark officially becomes part of Horizon Credit Union. System conversions to migrate Embark member records into Horizon will be completed at the same time. No branch closures or layoffs are planned as a result of the merger.
