Hanscom FCU donates blankets to annual “Gift of Warmth” drive

HANSCOM AFB, MA (February 23, 2021)

For over a decade, Hanscom Federal Credit Union has participated in the Cooperative Credit Union Association’s (CCUA) annual Gift of Warmth blanket drive to benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. This year, the Credit Union was able to provide 142 new blankets for children in need of support across the state.

The Gift of Warmth drive supports the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless’ A Bed for Every Child initiative, and not only provides blankets for children receiving a bed, but also bedding, pajamas, and stuffed animals, ensuring that every child has a warm, comfortable bed to get a peaceful night’s sleep.

“We’re proud to be able to support the CCUA and the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless each year, and the past year has reminded everyone just how important it is to live up to the credit union motto of ‘People Helping People,’” said Ray Phillips, Hanscom FCU’s chairman of the board. “Families have faced more challenges this past year due to financial worries, finding childcare, and managing remote education for their children–we hope that the gift of a warm, restful place to sleep shows them that their community cares about them.”

Laura Galeski, Hanscom FCU’s social responsibility manager, drops off 142 blankets for the Cooperative Credit Union Association’s annual Gift of Warmth blanket drive to benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.
