Hanscom FCU’s Charitable Foundation sponsors Mission: Gratitude Gala

HANSCOM AFB, MA (October 1, 2018) — This year the Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation was the presenting sponsor of Home Base’s Mission: Gratitude, a benefit gala that raises millions of dollars to help heal the invisible wounds of warfare for veterans, service members, and their families. The Foundation donated $125,000 for the September 27th event, along with an earlier donation of $10,000 for the 9th Annual Run to Home Base. In total the Foundation has donated $535,000 over the last five years to support Home Base’s mission.

The gala provided an opportunity for those in the New England business, civic, and philanthropic communities to stand together in recognition of the sacrifices made daily by those who have served in uniform and their families. Seats were provided to military members and their families at no cost.

The featured musical performance was by the male a capella group Straight No Chaser, which has enjoyed numerous national television appearances and CD releases. One of Boston’s best known journalists, WCVB anchor Randy Price, acted as the gala’s emcee.

Home Base, founded in 2009, is a partnership of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital. Based out of Boston, MA, Home Base is the first and largest private-sector clinic in the nation, leading regional and national efforts with a multi-disciplinary team of experts who work together to help service members, veterans, and their families heal from the invisible wounds of traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress, and related conditions.

The Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation has named the Home Base Program and Mission: Gratitude as a primary charity. “All proceeds from Mission: Gratitude go directly to support Home Base,” said Paul Marotta, Board Secretary for the Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation and Hanscom FCU’s Chairman of the Board. “We’re pleased to be the presenting sponsor of this annual event, which has brought much needed attention to and funding for veterans’ health. It’s a cause we care about very much and will continue to support into the future.”
